Cabbage to headline our 20th Birthday Bash

Cabbage in Manchester

Indie rock band Cabbage has been announced as the headline act at a day-long event to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Emmaus Mossley.

Our ‘20th Birthday Bash’ will take place on Saturday 16 September and mark 20 years since the opening of the Emmaus Mossley community building at Longlands Mill. Over the years the community has grown and it is now home to 26 companions – formerly homeless people who live, work and are supported at Emmaus Mossley.

Performing alongside Cabbage will be an eclectic mix of bands and musicians including The Piccadilly Rats, Danny Mahon, Kyla Brox, Afghan Sand Gang and Night Host. The event will also include special guest Terry Waite CBE, President of Emmaus UK, poetry from an Emmaus companion, vintage sale, raffle, charity auction and food stalls.

“Following the inspiration that Abbé Pierre has injected into the Emmaus Mossley community, Cabbage will pursue this grand celebration and put forth our souls and services in support of Emmaus Mossley.”

Lee Broadbent, Cabbage co-frontman and long-time Emmaus Mossley supporter

Emmaus Mossley’s ’20th Birthday Bash’ will take place on Saturday 16 September, 10am until 4pm, at Emmaus Mossley, Longlands Mill, Queen Street, Mossley OL5 9AH. There will be a full programme of indoor and outdoor events, including in the car park yard at Longlands Mill. All guests are encouraged to travel on foot or by public transport but there will be a drop off and pick-up space at the entrance for disabled visitors only.

“We are delighted that so many local musicians have agreed to support this event and help us celebrate our birthday in style. Our 20th Birthday Bash promises to be a fun community event for all ages to enjoy, paying tribute and thanking all the many people who have helped to build the Emmaus Mossley community to what it is today.”

Frances Hirst, Chair of Emmaus Mossley
