Our Secondhand Superstore has the same measures that have been in place over the past few months. We know this pandemic is not over so we’re taking things slow and steady, encouraging everyone to do their bit to stay safe.
To ensure the safety of our team and all visitors, we have updated our Covid-19 risk assessment and are working together to minimise the risk of virus transmission. Before you visit us, please read on to find out about changes to our operations and the safety measures we have in place.
We kindly ask that if you are feeling unwell in any way, please do not visit Emmaus Mossley. If you are well and plan to visit us, please be kind and respectful to our companions, volunteers, staff, neighbours and other Emmaus supporters.
Our Secondhand Superstore, Lucie’s Café, Collectables Room and Scrap Shed are open and, when the weather is dry, you’ll also find a selection of items for sale in our yard.
The spaces in our on-site car park will continue to be reserved for disabled badge holders and for those dropping off or collecting items. If you are visiting us by car or have dropped off items and wish to visit our store, please park at the bottom of Queen Street, on Manchester Road or use the public car-park behind the shops on Manchester Road.
To help ensure suitable physical distancing, we will be monitoring visitor numbers in-store and in certain areas at any given time. You may be required to queue prior to entry. We’re encouraging everyone to continue wearing face coverings to help protect the most vulnerable amongst us.
We ask that all visitors sanitise their hands on entry at our sanitiser stations. Please try to maintain at least a two-metre distance from others at all times. If you are visiting as a family, please stick together closely and ensure that children stay with adults at all times.
When purchasing items, use one of the till points with the perspex safety screens. We encourage you to pay by card and use contactless payments where possible.
We are accepting shop donations but prior to donating items, please read our ‘donate goods’ page and check which items we can and cannot accept. Please only donate items to our charity when our Superstore is open and at the designated drop-off point.
Due to upcoming warehouse improvement work and reduced storage space, we have suspended new collection requests for the time being. We are still accepting larger furniture items so if you are able to drop off your donations, it will greatly help our charity.
You can relax and recharge at Emmaus Mossley within Lucie’s Café. We have tables and seating both indoors and outdoors. Due to improvement works within our café, we are currently offering a reduced menu of hot and cold drinks, freshly prepared sandwiches, soup of the day and cakes.
We will continue to follow the latest advice and guidance from the government, our local authority and the Charity Retail Association. Keep checking our website and social media pages for the latest information and any changes to our operations. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns via [email protected].
Thank you for your understanding and continued support throughout this challenging period.
The majority of the funds we need to survive are generated through our social enterprise. The national lockdowns and temporary enforced closures of the Emmaus Mossley Secondhand Superstore has greatly reduced our charity’s income. We know it’s tough for everyone at the moment but any gift you can spare will help us recover from this pandemic.
