Visitors and supporters turned out in force to our Christmas Market event, bringing festive cheer and raising vital funds for Emmaus Mossley.
The festive charity event and sale took place on Saturday 18 November and gave shoppers a chance to support our charity in the run-up to Christmas. The action-packed event included live music, activities for kids, a visit from Santa and a big sale with sustainable options for decorations, gifts and festive fashion.
Gary, companion of Emmaus Mossley, said: “Our Christmas Market was really busy from start to finish with lots of regulars and new customers. It was a great atmosphere throughout the day and all who attended seemed to enjoy themselves, especially the younger children who really enjoyed meeting Santa.”
Emmaus Mossley supports 26 people who have experienced homelessness by providing them with a home, work, companionship and individual support. Our large Secondhand Superstore sells a wide range of donated and refurbished furniture, household goods, clothes, books, music, upcycled items and vintage wares.
This year we encouraged supporters to shop second-hand this Christmas to save money, support the environment and help our charity. For the event, we transformed The Shed area and dedicated the whole space to affordable decorations, bargain baubles, cards, gifts, lighting and reusable Christmas trees.
Hazel Hodkinson, Retail Manager at Emmaus Mossley, said: “It was a big team effort to get ready for the Christmas Market and again on the day of the event, but it was well worth it. I couldn’t have been more proud – everyone pulled together, creating a warm, welcoming and festive atmosphere for our visitors and supporters to enjoy.”
“I want to give huge thanks to everyone who attended and supported our Christmas Market event. This includes all the musicians, those who kindly donated raffle prizes and cakes, people who brought items to donate, and our fantastic team of companions, volunteers, trustees and staff.”
Proceeds from the Christmas Market event and sales at our Secondhand Superstore are used to provide a home, food, training and individual support to people supported by Emmaus Mossley. Unlike many of the support services for people who experience homelessness, Emmaus Mossley offers a home for as long as someone needs it.
