Companion Gary completed the 10-week City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Community Mental Health course and has recently been presented with his certificates. Gary lives and works at the charity Emmaus Mossley and is keen to use his lived experience of homelessness to support others.

“It was a really interesting course and very well delivered by TOG Mind. There were people from all walks of life on the course, not just those currently working in the mental health field. I’m hoping to go on and do the level 3 course which will further help towards me getting a support work role in future.” Gary, companion at Emmaus Mossley

The Community Mental Health course delivered by TOG Mind covers a range of modules to equip learners with knowledge to support others with their mental health and wellbeing. The course covered principles and values, the experience of mental distress, effective communication and developing as a mental health worker.

“We would like to congratulate Gary on this achievement and his commitment to personal development whilst also supporting others in our community. I would like to thank TOG Mind for the delivery of this course and their ongoing support of Emmaus Mossley.” Harry Barlow, Community Leader at Emmaus Mossley

Emmaus Mossley supports 26 formerly homeless people by providing them with a home and work in a community setting. The charity runs a social enterprise in Mossley, selling donated and upcycled furniture, household goods, clothes, bric-a-brac and vintage wares.
