The Volunteers’ Afternoon Tea event on Friday 2 June included afternoon tea, certificate presentations and a chance for volunteers to socialise and meet each other. Running between 1-7 June, Volunteers’ Week celebrates the contribution made by the millions of volunteers across the UK.

Angie, one of the volunteers at Emmaus Mossley, gives her time to help out in the clothing area.

“I have been an avid supporter of Emmaus for over 15 years and for the last seven I have also been a regular volunteer here on a Saturday in the clothes department. You could say I’m addicted! It really is ‘amazing Emmaus’ – come and see us on a Saturday for a personal shopping experience.” Angie, volunteer at Emmaus Mossley

Emmaus Mossley provides a home and meaningful work for 26 people who have experienced homelessness and social exclusion. The charity’s volunteers assist in a variety of roles in the Emmaus Mossley Secondhand Superstore – sorting donations, helping in the charity shop, upcycling items and refurbishing furniture in the workshop.

“We have a dedicated and diverse group of people who volunteer at Emmaus Mossley week in, week out. I’d like to say a huge thank you to each and every volunteer who contributes to the vital work we do at Emmaus Mossley. Without their support, our community and social enterprise could not achieve all that it does so we are extremely grateful for their time, skills and passion.” Alison Hill, Director at Emmaus Mossley
