Emmaus Mossley has been selected to benefit from the latest round of the Co-op Local Community Fund.

Emmaus Mossley supports 26 formerly homeless people by providing them with a home and work in a community setting. Money raised from the Co-op Local Community Fund will be used to develop our community garden.

Gary, one of the people supported by Emmaus Mossley and who maintains the garden, said: “I like working outside in the fresh air, using my imagination to develop the garden. I’m doing it as much for my fellow companions, improving the space and growing vegetables to use in our community kitchen. The Co-op funding will help us achieve much more within the garden.”

Funding from the Co-op will go towards upgrading the garden as a place for relaxation, socialising and food growing. Our charity’s income has been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic so the news of Co-op’s support has been gratefully received.

To help us raise vital funds through the scheme, we are relying on Co-op members and shoppers. Every time a member buys selected Co-op own-branded products or services, they get 2% back for themselves, and a further 2% goes to their chosen local cause.

Select Emmaus Mossley

Alison Hill, Director of Emmaus Mossley, said: “Towards the end of a very challenging year, we are delighted to be selected for the Co-op Local Community Fund. This additional funding boost will help us continue the support we offer to people who have experienced homelessness. I encourage all Co-op shoppers to sign up as a member and select Emmaus Mossley as your chosen charity.”
