Is your business looking for a unique way to support an independent local charity?

We have launched a unique fundraising campaign at our new hub, shop and community café at the Royal Oak in Ipswich – the Sit Down Next to Me Project.

We’ve been given 40 wooden chairs in need of a new lease of life. Each one is being lovingly upcycled by our very talented volunteers in the Emmaus Suffolk Workshop, and we are giving local businesses and individuals the opportunity to sponsor a chair.

All money raised through the sponsorship of these chairs will go straight back into supporting people experiencing homelessness or social isolation. Not only that, but this project is also giving our very talented volunteers the opportunity to unleash their creativity.

We’ve already secured some sponsors for some of the chairs. Thank you to Scrutton Bland, Butterworth & Son Coffee Roasters, Lofty Heights CIC, Do Good Networking, High Sheriff of Suffolk, Rachel Jackson and Julia Wakelam for sponsoring one of our completely unique chairs.

For a (minimum) donation of £100 you can sponsor a chair of your choice, themed around a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the Emmaus movement: locally, nationally or internationally. We will also put your name on the chair, alongside the name of the person they were created in honour of.

A full list of chairs available to sponsor can be found here.

Alternatively, for a minimum donation of £500 businesses can support a uniquely upcycled chair solely dedicated to their organisation. The Emmaus Suffolk upcycling team will create a bespoke chair inspired by your company and the work you do. An engraved plate will be installed on the chair featuring your company’s name, and the option to include a short dedication to someone you wish to honour.
