We’re excited to announce that this week marks the first anniversary of Emmaus North Staffs’ two flourishing charity shops in Stoke-on-Trent.

Thanks to your support, since May 2022 our charity shop in the Potteries Centre and our Furniture & Home Charity Warehouse off Etruria Road, Hanley, have collectively raised an impressive £238,000.

John Webbe, our charity’s Executive Lead, expressed his delight, stating, “We’re thrilled that within just 12 months, our shops have made such a significant impact. The overwhelming support from the local community has been truly heartwarming. Not only have our shops provided affordable goods to our customers, but they have also played a crucial role in combating furniture poverty in the local area.”

The Furniture & Home Charity Warehouse, situated on Etruria Road, offers a wide range of quality second-hand furniture, along with brand new divan beds, mattresses, and white goods. The location also houses our Donation Station, where individuals can drop off unwanted items for resale in both our charity shops. For larger donated pieces that cannot be transported by car, Emmaus North Staffs provides a free furniture collection service within the local area.

Meanwhile, the Emmaus North Staffs charity shop located on the lower-ground floor of the Potteries Shopping Centre sells high-quality second-hand clothing, retro and vintage fashion, shoes, books, music, films, bric-a-brac and furniture. The shop also features a showroom area that showcases discounted brand new beds and white goods. Customers can conveniently browse the available models and place orders for delivery within the local area.

Both shops are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and every Saturday from 10am to 4pm.

As we celebrate this significant milestone, we want to say thank you once again to the local community for their unwavering support. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of those facing furniture poverty and homelessness in North Staffordshire.

The funds generated from these shops play a vital role in supporting Emmaus North Staffs’ ongoing mission to address furniture poverty in the local area. Each year we collaborate with local councils and housing associations to provide essential furniture and appliances free of charge to over 800 households lacking access to such necessities. Furthermore, Emmaus North Staffs is working towards establishing a community for individuals in North Staffordshire who have experienced homelessness. This accommodation will not only offer a home but also provide work experience, daily support, and funded training, empowering individuals to rebuild their lives.
