This Saturday 24th June from 9 am – 4.30 pm, we’re taking over Ipswich Town Centre and will be parked up outside the Town Hall in the Battling Suicide Bus! Come and visit us and get involved in a game of giant 5aside Chess, enjoy a cuppa and learn about our wellbeing hubs.

Our charity, which supports vulnerable, socially isolated, and those at risk of homelessness in Suffolk, wants to support people who may be struggling with loneliness and get people chatting about their mental health.

The Battling Suicide Bus is part of 5asideCHESS, a social enterprise set up to tackle disconnection and inequality in society. The bus has space for people to relax, enjoy a cuppa and have a chat with people in their local community. On Saturday, set up outside the bus will be a game of giant 5asideCHESS, a shorter and quicker version of the traditional game of chess that everyone can get involved in.

At the event, we’ll be speaking to the local community about our new wellbeing group, the Breakfast Bap Hub. This hub will be a weekly space for men who may be struggling with their mental health or loneliness to hang out and meet new people. The hub will run every Saturday from 10am – 12pm starting on July 1st at The Royal Oak. If you’re tired of solitary Saturdays come along, play a few games of chess, and of course, enjoy a free breakfast bap from The Royal Oak Kitchen.

We hope to see lots of you down there this Saturday, our friendly team will be on hand for a chat or a game of chess in the sun!
