Emmaus North East is embarking on an inspiring new venture, named “Where There’s a Will,” aimed at uplifting individuals, providing them with essential tools for personal and professional growth. At the heart of this project is the development of a training room called the ‘The Holistic Hub’, which will be tailored to the diverse needs of companions, volunteers, and members of the wider community. A grant from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund via South Tyneside Council is funding this exciting project.

The cornerstone of “Where There’s a Will” is the recognition that each individual’s journey is unique, and success manifests differently for everyone. With this understanding, Emmaus North East is committed to delivering personalised development opportunities to nurture the potential of each person it serves.

So, what does this innovative project look like? Firstly, it offers invaluable work experience opportunities, laying the groundwork for individuals to gain practical skills and confidence essential for future employment. There will be professional support on things like CV writing, job search and regular one to ones.

“Where There’s a Will” places a strong emphasis on holistic wellbeing, recognising that personal health is integral to overall success and happiness. Through tailored health and wellbeing initiatives, individuals will have access to resources and support to enhance their physical, mental, and emotional wellness. This includes gym memberships for companions and regular counselling sessions.

In addition to work experience and wellbeing, the project also extends a supportive hand to those facing challenges with substance abuse through the South Tyneside Adult Recovery Service. By offering dedicated drug and alcohol support services, Emmaus North East ensures that individuals receive the assistance they need to overcome obstacles and thrive.

The anticipated launch of “Where There’s a Will” is set for the end of May. More details on how members of the local community can access the service will be announced in due course.
