Following government advice, we are planning to reopen The Works on Osborne Street on June 15thThe shop will be open Monday to Saturday between 10am-4pm.

During the lockdown we have continued to raise funds for our community through Instagram sales, and we are very grateful to our customers who have supported us during this time,” says Denise King, CEO at Emmaus Colchester.

“With careful planning the whole team at Emmaus Colchester has been working hard to make The Works safe to reopen to the public,” she adds.

Adaptations have been made to the shop to ensure that customers, companions and staff remain safe. Two metre social distancing measures have been introduced with screens added to the payment area and we will be taking card payments only.

We will also restart our collections and deliveries service and will be taking phone enquiries to our Transport Office on 01206 768887 from May 29th, to commence on June 1st.

While we have been busy with Instagram, our stock levels have depleted, and we welcome quality donations to help replenish our stock of preloved goods. We have limited storage in our warehouse and need to be selective with the donations we accept, please do not be offended if we are unable to collect your goods. Unfortunately, at this present time, we are unable to accept ‘drop-off’ donations,” explains Denise.

Our house clearance service continues to operate, where we offer either a part or full house clearance option.

To ensure everyone’s safety we have strict processes in place. Donated items will be placed in a designated area for 72 hours before being disinfected and moved into our Warehouse. We will be following government guidelines regarding the staffing of our vans, ensuring that all staff or companions involved in collections and deliveries live together at our community house.

The Emporium and Home Shop on the High Street, and The New Life Shop & Café on Crouch Street remain closed for the time being. If you see something you like from the shop windows, please contact us on 01206 768887.
