This Thursday 3rd August, alongside companions, supporters, partners, volunteers and trustees we celebrated our 15th Anniversary. We gathered at our community house to share the work we do, our future plans and to celebrate how far we’ve come in 15 years.

In 2008, after 9 years of hard work by trustees and volunteers our community was opened and we welcomed the first companion to our house. Since then, we’ve supported over 500 people with a home for as long as they need it, meaningful work in our social enterprises and helped companions to rebuild their confidence and self-esteem after experiencing homelessness.

We had a brilliant day marking a decade and a half of Emmaus, and the sun even came out! We were joined by Packing Shed Theatre who performed their mini play, A Companion Story, based off companion’s experiences of homelessness and Emmaus. While we enjoyed a BBQ we had excelled sea shanty music from The Hoolies and it was wonderful to show so many people around our community, warehouse and workshop!

To commemorate this anniversary and to ensure we can continue growing we’ve launched a fundraising campaign, called Fifteen for the Future. The campaign aims to raise £15,000 to help more people to benefit from the support we provide. A large proportion of the fundraising will be used to develop an on-site gym that companions can use and benefit from. Learn more about our appeal and donate here

Lastly, we just want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone that came along and celebrated with us today. If you weren’t able to make it but would like to learn more about Emmaus, get in touch with our CEO Brian on [email protected]
