As we get closer to our 15th Anniversary, this August, we’re excited to share the details of our first event to kick off a year of celebrations!
On Thursday 3rd August we’re inviting supporters & friends of Emmaus Colchester to join us at our community house, 175 Magdalen Street, Colchester, to mark 15 years since we first opened our doors and look into the future of Emmaus with us.
The event running from 11 am – 4 pm will include tours of our community from our companions, live entertainment from Packing Shed Theatre, the launch of our 5-year strategy and our fundraising goals, and of course a BBQ!
Emmaus Colchester was set up in 1999 by a team of volunteers who wanted to make a difference and support people experiencing homelessness in Essex. Our purpose build community house on Magdalen Street has offered a home for as long as needed for many companions over the years as they regain their self-esteem and rebuild confidence. 15 years after the first companion moved in we’re still supporting people with a home and meaningful work in our social enterprises.
Our fundraiser Fifteen for the Future aims to raise £15,000 which will allow us to expand the services we offer companions, this could include purchasing a mini van to enable companions to more easily go on wellbeing day trips and volunteer in the local community or creating a specialsied on-site gym to support companions fitness and mental health.
We can’t wait to start celebrating and we look forward to sharing more events and projects with you soon. If you’d like to attend our anniversary celebration event, please get in touch with our CEO Brian via [email protected] to confirm your attendance. Hope to see you soon!
