Well, what a show! It was incredible to watch our Interior Design Master’s episode yesterday. If you haven’t seen it yet, catch-up on iPlayer here.

In the first episode of the show we welcomed 10 amateur designers to transform former nun’s cells into rooms perfect for B&B guests, while demonstrating their signature style. Series judge Michelle Ogundehin and guest judge Abigail Ahern awarded designer Ben Iruzun with Stand Out Space for his incredible Victorian railway carriage transformation. Throughout the episode contestants were given free reign of our charity shop to choose furniture to upcycle and include in their final design.

It was truly incredible to be part of the show, the designers, cast, crew and tradesman were all amazing and it was really inspiring to see their work. As you can imagine there’s a few bits that didn’t stay in the rooms long… but we thought all the designs were fantastic.

Our B&B isn’t quite open yet and we’re still fundraising to make this project happen. We are passionate about restoring the stunning building that has been kindly gifted to us by the Community of All Hallows and we need to raise funds to ensure we can do this to a high standard.

Once open, the B&B is going to transform the support we can offer companions, the annual income from one room will provide a homeless person a home in our community for one whole year!

Currently, companions the people who have experienced homelessness and are now supported by our charity, are living in the rooms transformed by designers. We hoped that these spaces could become a B&B but these rooms will now remain as homes for companions and we will be opening 23 B&B rooms to the public. Pete is just one of the companions enjoying a unique bedroom since the show visited our site. Since being in their newly designed rooms we’ve seen a huge boost in companion’s well being. Not only are we providing a place to call home but a room they can be really proud of too.
