Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney is a homelessness charity which provides up to 32 people with a home, meaningful employment and support for as long as it’s needed.
Our companions each have their own bedrooms, with all the normal living expenses covered. We all eat delicious home-cooked meals together in a communal dining room and encourage companions to socialise in our communal spaces.
We know that it takes more than just a roof over someone’s head to help someone overcome homelessness. We give our companions the chance to gain hands-on work experience in one of our social enterprises.
Work is an integral part of community life, and research conducted by Emmaus UK found that for 79% of people who have lived at Emmaus working and having something to do every day has been most beneficial part of their experience.
All Emmaus companions volunteer their time in one of our social enterprises. At Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney, these social enterprises include our charity shops, house clearances and the NAS project.
Through this work in our social enterprises, companions gain hands on valuable work-experience in customer service, upcycling, retail and much more.
Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney relies on donations of high quality items to keep our shops stocked to generate an income to support our charity.
While smaller items can be taken to our Ditchingham site, we offer a collection service for good quality furniture and household goods. We accept collect household furniture items but there are some exceptions for either legal or practical reasons.
Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we are not currently offering our furniture collection service.
Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney offers an affordable house clearance service with a difference as all proceeds will be used to support people who have experienced homelessness.
We offer a full and partial house clearance service, covering the county of Norfolk.
