Emmaus UK is the federal body for Emmaus in the UK. Each member of Emmaus UK – either a community or group – is an independent charity, governed by a local board of trustees.
The Emmaus UK Board of Trustees is elected by Emmaus community members. Most of our trustees are also involved with a local community or group. The board is responsible for the governance of Emmaus UK, which offers support to local Emmaus communities and groups, as well as coordination on a national level.
Emmaus UK is funded through donations and grants, which are also used to support the Emmaus groups and communities around the UK.
Each Emmaus community’s ultimate aim is to become financially self-sufficient, supporting itself through the trading activity of its social enterprises. Until they reach this point, Emmaus communities and groups rely on donations and grants to cover their costs and develop their business.
Emmaus UK is a charity registered in England and Wales, number 1064470, and a company limited by guarantee number 3422341. The registered office is Unit 302 Scott House, The Custard Factory, Gibb Street, Birmingham B9 4AA.
