On Friday 17 February, our companions, staff and trustees had a brilliant evening visiting the Cardiff Met Exhibition to view FareShare Cymru artwork.

FareShare Cymru is a food redistribution charity serving South and West Wales and operates with the mission to fight hunger and tackle food waste. The exhibition is a collaboration between Fareshare Cymru, Cardiff Metropolitan University and Tony Charles Photography. It showcases the volunteers who work with FareShare Cymru in its Cardiff warehouse as well as the food that is redistributed to charity and community groups FareShare Cymu work with.

Emmaus South Wales helped to contribute to the artwork by inviting FareShare Cymru to visit our community in Bridgend to take photographs. Our charity has long benefited from the support FareShare Cymru provides and we receive weekly food packages, which are used to cook nutritious meals for the formerly homeless people we support.

Appearing in the artwork was companion James, who was feeling proud on the night of the exhibition because people recognised him and were asking for pictures. Our brilliant volunteer Amanda also featured in a photograph which was taken in our food pantry. Amanda is invaluable to us; she picks up the FareShare food every week and comes in every Thursday to clean the community house and cook a beautiful meal for our companions.

The exhibition runs until Saturday 4 March 2023 so make sure you stop by to view the artwork! To find out more visit Fareshare Cymru’s website.
