“Its when each one of us waits for the other to make a start that nothing happens. Its when our neighbours, our colleagues and our friends see that we are acting that they will join us.”

Abbé Pierre, founder of Emmaus

Volunteer with us

We couldn’t do what we do without our fantastic volunteers. Our volunteers fulfil vital roles for us throughout the charity and our enterprises and we are always ready to welcome new volunteers.

You will be working alongside companions and staff to support the work of Emmaus South Wales, giving you the opportunity to meet new people, develop new skills, gain experience, and contribute directly to the success of our charity.

Our volunteer base is diverse, and our volunteers come from all walks of life. All we ask is that our volunteers are able to make a regular and consistent commitment. How often and for how long you want to volunteer is up to you, but we ask for a minimum commitment of 4 hours per week for 3 months.

Emmaus South Wales is special and we want those that work for us to be a little bit special too. We are passionate about and committed to what we do. We work hard and challenge ourselves to constantly go further and do more. In return we get to spend our time making a difference, day in and day out. What could be better than that?!

Emmaus South Wales is a Real Living Wage Employer. We provide ongoing learning and development opportunities for all our people. We are committed to diversity and inclusion.

If you share our values and ethos, are a problem solver, a good communicator, and can help us deliver our mission, we’d love to receive an application from you.

Emmaus is a homelessness charity with a difference. We don’t just provide a bed, we provide a reason to get out of it too. Central to our ethos is the rebuilding of self-esteem, confidence, and skills through engagement in purposeful work. Companions volunteer full time in our social enterprises, consisting of retail, house clearance service, and a Land Train service.

Companions are provided with support, training and development to enable them to undertake roles throughout our enterprises.
