CLOSING DATE: Ongoing LOCATION: Emmaus Salford TYPE: Trustee

Emmaus Salford is seeking to appoint a Trustee with experience in relation to housing, homelessness, social care and a wide range of corporate functions, as well as anyone who is enthusiastic about contributing to the work of Emmaus Salford.

We are a registered charity that supports homeless people by providing them with a home, work and an opportunity to progress. The people we support, known as companions, live and work together in the Emmaus Salford community and social enterprise.

Emmaus Salford is an independent charity that is part of the international Emmaus movement and a member of Emmaus UK, our national federation. Emmaus is a secular movement with strong principles of non-discrimination, social inclusion and seeking to help those in the greatest need.

Main duties

The charity has a staff team who deal with day to day management and support. The role of a Trustee is to oversee the governance, risk management and strategic planning of the charity. We require a Trustee to help further develop and enhance our existing social enterprises and explore new business development opportunities. We wish to increase our impact, expand our social enterprise and continue to support the local community through our social supermarket and other initiatives.

As a Trustee of Emmaus Salford you will make a significant impact by using your knowledge and skills to help sustain and grow our charity. In so doing, you will have a genuine and positive impact on the lives of our companions and on the wider Salford community. Your experience and contribution will help guide our decision making as we navigate a period of significant growth and change.

Time commitment

The Board of Trustees meet monthly, currently the second Monday of each month at 4.30pm. Meetings usually last a couple of hours. Other time commitments will involve reading and producing appropriate board reports.
