Do you have knowledge and skills in gardening, food growing and horticulture? Have you got some time to space to help us improve our community garden? If so, come and join the Emmaus Salford team as a Gardening Volunteer to work with our companions to grow fresh food and plants.

Main duties:

  • Help us plan and develop our growing space
  • Tend to plants and produce within our garden
  • Garden maintenance and house keeping
  • Ensure health and safety at all times
  • Mentor and develop fellow volunteers and companions.

Skills required:

  • Knowledge of plants, horticulture and biodiversity
  • Experience of garden or allotment plot management
  • Willingness to get stuck in and help out where needed
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic and a positive attitude.

Time commitment

We are looking for a volunteer that will commit to at least 1 day per week (9am-4:30pm). The days will need to fall between Monday and Friday, but we can be flexible in terms of what day(s) these will be.

Training, support and benefits:

  • As an Emmaus volunteer you will be given a full induction when you start
  • A staff member and companion will support you throughout your time as a volunteer
  • An opportunity to develop your skills and experience
  • Further training where possible
  • Dinner and travel expenses on the days that you volunteer.
