A collection of photography from a volunteer at Emmaus Salford goes on display on Saturday 25 February at their shop on 162-170 Partington Lane, Swinton. The photographs show a variety of scenes from places across the globe, including Mexico, Cambodia, and Ireland. There will also be a range of upcycled furniture available to purchase which has been worked on by volunteer Chris Lord, and some of the people being supported by Emmaus Salford.

The volunteer of two years decided to host the exhibition, titled, View from a Lens, to raise money for the charity who help formerly homeless people to rebuild their lives.

Chris said:

“My relationship with Emmaus Salford started a few years ago when I took a small piece of furniture I had upcycled back to the shop. The community director was there and when she saw what I had done, she asked if I would be interested in doing some more upcycling for Emmaus.

I love the Emmaus charity and how it supports people to improve their lives, so I decided that selling my photographs would be a great way to raise funds. I have travelled a lot and have always enjoyed taking photographs of people, landscapes, plants, and animals.”

Jackie Smith, Chief Operating Officer of Emmaus Salford said:

“Emmaus Salford is very fortunate to have volunteers such as Chris providing consistent support to the charity & fundraising vital funds in many ways. This latest project provides an opportunity for us to highlight more of Chris’s many talents and we are delighted that Izzy has also joined Chris in this venture.”

The exhibition will take place between 10 am – 3 pm on Saturday 25 February and all profits from the sale of the photographs and furniture will be donated to Emmaus Salford. Anything not sold on the day will be made available for sale on the charity’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/EmmausSalford/
