Emmaus Hull & East Riding is a charity that gives back, engaging in acts of solidarity to help people and groups in greater need.

Emmaus founder, Abbé Pierre, encouraged everyone to ‘serve first those most in need’ and we continue to try and live by this. Our companions, volunteers and staff regularly undertake actions to help people and groups less fortunate than ourselves.

Solidarity actions be very valuable for our companions as it is often key to helping to rebuild their self-esteem, proving that everyone has the capacity to make a difference to the lives of others. Acts of solidarity can including fundraising, volunteering and donating items to support local, national and international good causes.

For one day each year, Emmaus Hull & East Riding also holds an annual Solidarity Sale Day where we donate all of the proceeds from our charity shops to Emmaus International.
