The Orchard is our purpose-built community building with 30 en-suite rooms for the people we support.

The Emmaus Hull & East Riding residential community is home for up to 30 formerly homeless people, known as companions. Our community provides companions with the warmth, food, home comforts, support network and sense of belonging that many people who have experienced homelessness may have lost. It’s a safe and caring place where people can settle, relax, socialise and rebuild their lives.

As well as furnished en-suite bedrooms, companions have access to modest and comfortable shared facilities including a kitchen, dining room and garden. We even have a cat!

Person-centred support

Here at Emmaus, we work with each individual to provide person-centred support. Our aim is to help companions back to independence by providing education, training and rehabilitation, alongside increasing confidence and self-esteem through working in our range of social enterprises.

We have a structured support package that encourages progression at each individual’s pace. The support we offer includes mental health, physical health, basic living skills, substance misuse, offending behaviour, social interactions, work experience and behavioural management. We use the Outcome Star tool to help visualise growth and identify specific areas to work on. Training is identified and offered that is appropriate for the person, their goals and their journey whilst with us.

How to join our community
