Emmaus Hull & East Riding is proud to achieve another significant milestone, launching the opening of its Emmaus Furniture Super Store.  The Furniture Super Store will be the Charity’s biggest enterprise, open to the public 6 days a week.  Formerly homeless individuals and local volunteers have been working hard to prepare the Super Store for its launch.  Local boy and boxer Tommy Coyle will be cutting the ribbon of the Emmaus Super Store to celebrate its significance in supporting those formerly homeless.  Tommy continues to passionately support local homeless people and has always maintained that those less fortunate should not be a forgotten group of people in our city and local communities.

Kelly Thompson Director – “We are extremely proud to open our New Furniture Super Store, a huge Furniture destination outlet for Emmaus and  Hull & East Riding with many pieces of furniture ranging from vintage through to modern.  Our Charity continues to receive a vast amount of local support and I would like to thank all those who have been part of the Emmaus journey so far. This is a really exciting time for us, supporting our mission to enable formerly homeless individuals with opportunities to work and feel part of their community again.   A very special thank you to Tommy Coyle for showing his support to the Charity and our work”.

There will be further exciting developments coming up in April with the Café launch and Training facility launches.  A fundraising evening with Terry Waite and summer events underway!

We are looking for volunteers to help within our Social Enterprise, be it moving furniture, customer services or helping us in our Community Café. Emmaus supports formerly homeless people by giving them a home, meaningful work in a social enterprise and an opportunity to get back on their feet again.

For many who experience homelessness, one of the biggest obstacles they must overcome is a loss of self-esteem. Emmaus provides people with a stable home and the opportunity to regain their self-worth, making a real contribution to their community.

Research shows that for every £1 invested in a community, there is an £11 social, environmental and economic return, with savings to the benefits bill, health services and a reduction in crime reoffending.
