Abdul’s Assembly Experience
I learnt that the opportunities around other Emmaus are all different and have different ideas. My retail workshop was interesting as I learnt how to set up a retail shop and also find out what the customers want to see within it. I also learnt how to maximize the space and use this effectively
I’m proud to have been given the opportunity to attend the assembly and what it had to offer. I also felt meeting other team leaders and companions was very informative as it gave a great insight of how other Emmaus are run.
I would recommend Emmaus because it gives people a fresh start and doesn’t judge your past. It opens doors to you, which in the past may have been closed. I’m humbled to be part of the Emmaus community.
Hayley’s Assembly Experience
I learnt that being part of a bigger team enables me to look at the bigger picture when It comes to Emmaus and the opportunities that it has to offers. I did a workshop that helped me to gain information for when I eventually decide to move on. It also helped me to gain skills around budgeting and being independent.
I’m proud of being part of Emmaus and how it’s enabled me to achieve more than I expected I would be able to do. I feel that being part of the Emmaus team at Hull has built my confidence and I’m now looking forward to the future.
I would recommend Emmaus because it helps people to improves your skills and also enables you to feel part of a community. I would recommend coming to Emmaus because it helps you achieve goals and it makes you feel that your part of just one big family.
Lee’s Assembly Experience
Being at the Assembly for me was an experience that I don’t think I will get the chance to do again, I found listening to other people experiences interesting as it gave me ideas on different approaches.
I’m very proud to be part of Emmaus Hull as it gives me a sense of being part of a community and also a sense of belonging. Because I feel this way I am able to share all my experiences on how Emmaus has helped me online on my journey.
I would always recommend Emmaus to other people because it gives you a sense of purpose and because of this I was able to give back. I would recommend getting involved in everything that is on offer as this will help you when you do decide to move on. I got involved in lots of training which again has helped me.
Pan’s Assembly Experience
I learnt that we are all in this together and it’s a really nice thing to see people come together and share their experiences about picking themselves up and also working together as a team. I loved hearing about the different Emmaus around the world, and how they work together.
I’m proud that it was a moving experience and people felt relaxed enough to share their experiences. I’m proud also of how people have made a difference in other people’s lives. We are all on a journey and need to reach the end result together as an organisations to end homelessness.
Recommending Emmaus I defiantly would do, but I’m mindful that Emmaus is not for everyone. People who embrace Emmaus feel part of a team and because of this yes I would recommend to anyone on becoming an Emmaus Companion.
