Barratt & David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East has donated £3,000 to Emmaus Hull & East Riding to enhance services that help those affected by homelessness in the local area.

Emmaus Hull & East Riding provides a home, training, work opportunities and individual support to people who have experienced homelessness. From The Orchard, our residential community building, we support up to 30 formerly homeless people by providing them with a home, support, new opportunities and a sense of belonging.

The donation to Emmaus was a component of Barratt & David Wilson Developments’ Community Fund initiative, enabling their internal Charity Committee to select a charity every month to donate to.

Stephanie Cooper, Director of Emmaus Hull & East Riding, said: “We are extremely grateful to Barratt & David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East for this generous donation. The Orchard is in need of repair to allow it to be able to serve its purpose, therefore this donation has really helped towards this.

“Our social enterprise is directly contributed to by our companions, allowing them to gain valuable skills, confidence and experience to help them achieve their personal goals so having this back up and running will make such a huge difference to them.”

Emmaus Hull & East Riding’s social enterprise includes three charity stores across Hull. In addition to our residential community and social enterprise, we also deliver an outreach service, providing direct support to people who are street homeless.

Daniel Smith, Managing Director of Barratt & David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East, “We feel privileged to be able to contribute to the admirable work of Emmaus Hull & East Riding through this donation. It reflects our commitment to local communities and aligns with Barratt Developments’ dedication to make a positive impact in the areas where we build.

“With last year’s figures showing 502 people homeless in the Hull area, through this donation, our goal is to help Emmaus Hull & East Riding to continue providing services that make a meaningful impact on the lives of the individuals they support.”
