Our homelessness charity is urgently seeking new volunteers.

Our volunteers work alongside our team and as a charity we simply couldn’t function without them.

We’re calling on local people to join our friendly team of volunteers. We’re particularly seeking people to help in our charity shop in Coventry, to carry out electrical testing on donated items, and to assist with our furniture pick-up service.

If you have some spare time once a week, we’ll provide full training to enable you to serve customers and create appealing stock displays in our shop on Red Lane.

If you prefer to be out and about, we’re looking for strong individuals to help load and unload our furniture van as it collects donated items and drops off purchases.

If you’ve done electrical (PAT) testing before, we also need help with making sure the things people have kindly donated, are safe for resale.

Volunteering can be a rewarding experience, as it provides an opportunity to connect with others, as well as learn new skills and increase self-confidence.

Marian, an Emmaus volunteer, said: “I love that I now have a purpose each week. That is so important, especially when you’re retired; people sometimes don’t realise how important it is. I wake up and know that I’m off out. I just love coming here. I enjoy it, and I’ll do whatever I can to help.”

Volunteer Catherine said: “I would definitely recommend volunteering at Emmaus. I know that trying something new can seem difficult, but everyone is so friendly and welcoming, and the whole team has a laugh while at work. It’s obvious to see what amazing work the charity does.”

All our volunteers receive a 20% discount at the Emmaus charity shop at 70 Red Lane, Coventry; lunch is provided and bus fares are reimbursed.

No experience is necessary; volunteers just need to be friendly, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
