I am a retired hospital consultant and previous trustee of our local hospice with a particular interest in governance. I have been a trustee since 2017 and chair the social enterprise committee.
I am an historian based at Loughborough University, and have published three books on the history of the United States. I am also Director of People and Culture in the School of Social Sciences and Humanities at Loughborough, with responsibility as strategic lead for staff development, experience and wellbeing. I am currently doing a part time MBA. I enjoy volunteering in the Emmaus Red Lane shop and also spend my time volunteering for other charities.
I’m an IT leader who has experience in a number of sectors where I have enjoyed providing IT services and project outcomes to meet the organisation’s needs. I’m passionate about being able to make a difference to whatever I’m involved in. I also look to bring some humour to whatever I do (as life is too short not to have fun while getting the job done!).
I have worked in various parts of the country during a legal career in the public service in which I served on multi agency groups in the fields of mental health and people trafficking which continue to be areas of particular interest to me.

I’m delighted to bring my varied professional background – spanning the N.H.S. and the third sector – to the role of trustee. What truly excites me is driving quality results! Throughout my career, I’ve focused consistently on finding better ways to work through process re-design, effective project management, and helping teams and individuals grow to achieve the best possible outcomes for those we serve.
