We’re thrilled that our doors are reopened after our 15-week closure.

The Emmaus Village Carlton shops and bistro are now open Wednesday to Saturday 9.30am – 4.30pm and Sunday 10am – 4pm.

Emmaus Village Carlton sells furniture, clothing, upcycled goods, homeware, toys, books, music and electrical items from our Home Store, Boutique and Bric a brac shops. Drinks and food are available to takeaway or eat outside from our popular em’s Bistro.

For every week closed during lockdown, Emmaus Village Carlton lost valuable income that is used to provide a home, food, and support to help people rebuild their lives after being homeless. We estimate we’ll have lost around £200,000 of trading income due to the pandemic. As well as providing vital funds for the charity, our shops and bistro provide work experience, training, and a sense of purpose for the 42 people we support and are key in helping people regain their confidence and self-esteem.

Our shops are a fantastic resource for anyone wanting to buy quality affordable items, wanting to embark on an upcycling project, looking for quirky, vintage and retro items, or for anyone who wants to shop responsibly, buy second-hand, and look after our environment.

We know many of our regular customers have been very much looking forward to coming back for a wander around our shops and a visit to the bistro for a takeaway or to eat outside. We’ve positioned picnic benches around the site and put up tables in our marquee (roof only) so that our visitors can start to make the most of the warmer weather in a safe and beautiful environment.

Safety is our priority

We have followed advice from the Government and Charity Retail Association to implement measures to keep everyone safe. These include limiting the number of customers at any one time, installing markings and signs throughout our shops and hand sanitiser stations at all entrance doors. We have carried out a rigorous risk assessment with new cleaning measures in place, perspex screens at our tills, and we’re asking customers to pay using contactless if at all possible.
