If you are looking to donate your unwanted items to a local Bedfordshire charity then Emmaus Village Carlton is happy to accept most quality clothing and household goods.

The items are then sold in our three charity shops, raising funds to help us continue to change the lives of formerly homeless people in your area.  Read about how to book a drop-off donation appointment or arrange a free collection from your home or business.

If you are a UK taxpayer, please ask us about Gift Aid.

Each year we have to spend £47,000 to pay for the disposal of all the poor quality donated items, so we’d really appreciate your help to reduce this bill by taking a look at the criteria below before donating.

We can accept most clothing and household items if they are in a re-sellable condition, including books, toys, bric-a-brac, furniture and white goods (e.g.: fridges, washing machines).

We can’t accept:

  • Any goods not in a re-sellable condition (this includes tears and stains)
  • Dining tables without chairs and chairs with no table
  • Baby care equipment; buggies, cots, prams, car seats, high chairs, play pens
  • Soft toys with no ‘CE’ visible on the label
  • Upholstered furniture with no fire label attached
  • Electrical items over 10 years old
  • Used duvets and pillows
  • Non-flat-screen TVs
  • Computers and printers
  • TVs and DVD players without a remote and two scart lead sockets
  • Video or audio tapes
  • Carpet
  • Pianos or organs
  • Flat pack furniture
  • Wall display units with cupboards at the bottom and glass doors at the top

Many thanks for your support.
