We’re doing our best to reduce the amount we send to landfill. Our team works very hard to ensure that we recycle and reuse as much as possible. We have a large recycling area behind our shops where we sort through everything.

Help us raise cash through recycling

We’re actually able to sell scrap metal, cardboard, damaged books and textiles (not used duvets/pillows) to raise funds, so if you have any of these items, please consider dropping them off at Emmaus Village Carlton (during times when our donation area is open) to help us increase that amount. If you do this, please label them as ‘For Recycling’ to avoid us having to sort through boxes and bags looking for items to sell.

Despite the Covid-19 restrictions earlier in 2021, we managed to earn £32,548.42 from recycling items that were excess or not fit for sale in our shops. Here’s how this total was raised:

Scrap metal: £3730.10
Cardboard: £2008.80
Damaged books: £9514.42
Textiles (not used duvets/pillows): £16,678.65

Thinking about bringing us things to be sold in our charity shops? Here’s a full list of what donated items we can and can’t accept.

Many thanks for your support.
