A fundraising film, showcasing Cadent Foundation’s support of Emmaus Village Carlton, has been nominated for the Smiley Movement’s Charity Film Awards.

The charitable arm of Cadent, the UK’s largest gas distribution network, commissioned a film featuring our companion Christian who spoke about his own experience of homelessness and how Emmaus transformed his life.

Christian also spoke about the Rucksack Stomps he’s been organising since 2017, along with a team of companions, staff and volunteers, all helping vulnerable people on the streets of Bedford, Wellingborough and Northampton each week.

Christian’s story was included in a film showcasing the support the Cadent Foundation has given to Emmaus which was aired at a charity golf tournament to highlight our charity and our work to end homelessness.

The charitable arm of Cadent has boosted several Emmaus communities, including Emmaus Village Carlton, through installing new energy efficient enhancements, such as roof and cavity wall insulation and brand new windows.

The film titled ‘Safe & Warm – Cadent Foundation’s Support for the Emmaus Community’ was created for Cadent Foundation by Acquis Media, who have just entered it into the annual Charity Film Awards, one of the largest charity events of the year.

The awards are run by the Smiley Movement, an organisation that helps non-profit organisations and charities like us, engage more effectively with the public, creating a ripple effect of positive change.

Dean Bourke, Emmaus Village Carlton Trustee said: “We are delighted that this fantastic film has been entered into the Charity Film Awards and thank the Cadent Foundation for highlighting Christian’s very moving account of his experience of homelessness.

“A huge thank you to the Cadent Foundation for their incredible support to our communities, helping us keep our companions safe and warm. We hope this film will receive the recognition it deserves in these wonderful awards.”

The event draws in hundreds of entrants, from whom the finalists gain millions more views as a result of the awards. Winners are recognised at an awards ceremony at the ODEON Luxe cinema in London’s Leicester Square.

Following an approval process, each entry submitted will be open to a public vote. The highest scoring films within each category will become finalists and will be reviewed and scored by an expert panel of judges..
