Emmaus Merseyside hosted a special Memorial Event for our charity’s founder and former chair Nigel Mellor MBE who passed away earlier this year.
On Friday 21 July, we welcomed family members, friends and former colleagues of Nigels to our community for a special event to celebrate his life, impact and lasting legacy. Guests travelled from far and wide to pay their respects, share stories and tales of times gone by. At the event, we also unveiled a bench and an area of our community garden dedicated to Nigel’s memory.
Nigel made a massive contribution to our charity and his dedication, hard work and achievements laid the foundation to enable Emmaus Merseyside to flourish. Nigel also made a big impact with a number of other organisations across Merseyside and it was inspiring for everyone who attended to hear about his wide range of achievements.
Marc Bamber, Chief Operating Officer at Emmaus Merseyside, said: “For those of you who know Emmaus Merseyside, you’ll certainly know Nigel and how he was instrumental in the founding of our charity and community building.
“For those of you who attended, thank you for doing so, from everybody at Emmaus. A special thanks to all companions and staff who made the event happen – from planning and making a buffet for over 100, to getting the building ready to accommodate so many!”
