The Emmaus Merseyside charity and social enterprise offers a range of services that deliver social impact.
Our shops and services provide us with an income to sustain the Emmaus Merseyside community. Formerly homeless people who are members of our community work alongside local volunteers to run all aspects of our social enterprise. This provides people with a focus each day, a chance to interact with different people, training, work experience and an opportunity to make a positive impact on society.
By shopping with us, donating your unwanted items or receiving our services, you’re making a real difference to the lives of people who have experienced homelessness.
Social impact
For every £1 spent with Emmaus there is an £11 social, economic and environmental return on investment.
This was the finding of a social return on investment study carried out on behalf of Emmaus. The research showed that we make a significant impact, with savings to the healthcare system, a reduction in crime and re-offending as well as savings to the benefits bill.
