Emmaus Merseyside community members Graham and Stewart attended the Charity Film Awards where our new Emmaus film scooped a bronze award.

‘An Introduction to Emmaus North West’ is an inspirational film highlighting the work of Emmaus Merseyside and other Emmaus communities across the region. The film secured a top three position in the Longform ‘People’s Choice’ category of the Charity Film Awards, thanks in part to votes from the public.

Emmaus Merseyside is an award-winning charity that provides a home, training, work opportunities and individual support to people who have experienced homelessness. Graham and Stewart attended this year’s awards event on Wednesday 20 March at The Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square, London.

Stewart said: “After a long drive to London, it was a quick change and straight out to the Charity Film Awards ceremony. We were treated like film stars, rubbing shoulders with celebrities and with a red carpet welcoming us.

“I was honoured to be at the awards, representing Emmaus, and proud to be an ambassador for our charity. We were pleased to get a bronze award and it was a brilliant night – well worth the journey down there.”

Since the creation of the Charity Film Awards in 2017, more than 3,000 charities have entered and benefitted. The Emmaus film was commissioned by the partnership of seven Emmaus communities in the North West and produced by award-winning photographic duo Photography by Anderson.

Marc Bamber, Chief Operating Officer of Emmaus Merseyside, said: “We are delighted that Graham and Stewart attended and represented Emmaus at the Charity Film Awards and that our film scooped an award.

“Huge thanks to all the people who voted for our film in the Charity Film Awards. I’d also like to thank everyone involved in the planning, filming and production of this amazing film which will help to raise awareness of Emmaus.”
