Green spaces at Emmaus Merseyside have been transformed by a team of volunteers from Warrington-based Flex Ltd.

On Tuesday 18 October, seven staff members from Flex joined volunteers from Liverpool Food Growers Network for a day of action at Emmaus Merseyside. The team of volunteers assisted companions and local volunteers to tidy green spaces and growing beds, mow grassed areas and plant bulbs ready for spring.

Rachael Fairclough, HR Director at Flex, said: “I am delighted that Flex employees have been able to support Emmaus again for such a worthy cause. Our employees thoroughly enjoyed their volunteering time, and we look forward to continuing to work with Emmaus and support their work in the local area.”

Emmaus Merseyside is an award-winning charity that provides a home, training, work opportunities and individual support to people who have experienced homelessness. People supported by Emmaus work alongside volunteers to grow plants, flowers and fresh produce within our large on-site community garden.

Flex is a multinational electronics manufacturer with a strong commitment to sustainable practices. The company’s commitment to social good is backed by employee donations and thousands of hours of volunteering. As part of their social impact, Flex has partnered with Emmaus UK to support Emmaus charities across the country.

Additionally, the Flex Foundation, a private organisation that awards grants to philanthropic initiatives, aligns with four UN Sustainable Development Goals including good health and well-being, decent work and economic growth, responsible consumption and production and climate action.

Marc Bamber, Chief Operating Officer at Emmaus Merseyside, said: “We were delighted to welcome another team of staff volunteers from Flex and are very grateful for their continued support. Their hard work alongside our companions and volunteers made a big impact to the appearance of our green spaces and sets us up well for our growing season next year.

“I would also like to thank the volunteers from Liverpool Food Growers Network for joining us on the day, their kind support and helping us attract new volunteers to our community garden.”
