Emmaus Merseyside has started the new year with a new van thanks to a generous donation from Cadent.
The Cadent van donation to Emmaus Merseyside was made as part of a national charity partnership. The donated van will be used to collect and deliver furniture and household items to and from our Charity Superstore in Sefton.
Stacey Weeks, Sustainability Manager at Cadent, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to donate this much needed van to Emmaus Merseyside. Our partnership with Emmaus goes further than just fundraising, we’re helping Emmaus become more sustainable so that they can help people long into the future. Donating newer vehicles will help them keep their charitable work going in a much more efficient and sustainable way.”
Emmaus Merseyside is an award-winning charity that provides a home, training, work opportunities and individual support to people who have experienced homelessness. People supported by Emmaus Merseyside – known as companions – gain skills, confidence and experience by working alongside local volunteers in our social enterprise.
Marc Bamber, Chief Operating Officer at Emmaus Merseyside, said: “We’re very pleased and grateful to Cadent for the new van which is more efficient and reliable than the others we have in our fleet.
“Our vans are essential to our social enterprise, ensuring that we’re able to generate the income we need for our charity and the ongoing increasing costs of providing a home for 28 formerly homeless people. Cadent also kindly wrapped the van in our livery so that has provided another cost-saving to our charity.”
The van donation to Emmaus Merseyside is part of a two-year charity partnership between Cadent and Emmaus UK. Cadent has pledged to support Emmaus communities and groups across the UK, focussing their support on energy efficiency, fairer opportunities and greener societies.
Cadent operates and maintains the largest gas distribution network in the UK. The firm distributes gas to 11 million homes and businesses throughout the North West, West Midlands, East Midlands, South Yorkshire, East of England and North London.
