Two Emmaus Merseyside community members have been recognised in the inaugural round of the Emmaus Hidden Heroes Awards in partnership with Room to Reward.
Chair of Trustees Nigel Mellor and Support Worker Bruce Mercer were nominated by their peers and each won their respective categories. Nominees are put forward based on their commitment, dedication and determination to go above and beyond to increase the positive impact of Emmaus communities. Winners are selected by an independent judging panel.
Nigel’s nominator, said: “Tenacious but empathetic, pragmatic yet optimistic, Nigel has dedicated a vast amount of his time to shaping Emmaus Merseyside. In short, it is difficult to see how Emmaus Merseyside would exist without his enormous contribution.”
Bruce’s nominator, said: “Bruce has made a massive contribution to helping others throughout his life at Emmaus. I feel he is most deserving of this award and it would be great for him to get this recognition at the end of a challenging year.”
Emmaus UK teamed up with Room to Reward to offer Emmaus companions, volunteers, trustees and staff the opportunity to be recognised by their peers and win a two night break to reward them for the work they do for Emmaus.
Room to Reward was created to say thank you to “Hidden Heroes” – the inspirational people who do so much in the name of charity. Winners are awarded a two night bed and breakfast hotel stay for themselves and a guest at a choice of hotels throughout the UK and Europe.
