Could you help us? We need volunteers to help prepare clothes ready for sale in our charity shop.

The Emporium, on Stockwell Head in Hinckley, is run by our homelessness charity Emmaus Leicestershire & Rutland. Earlier this year, we expanded the shop to add a large second-hand clothing Boutique.

Following a recent increase in clothing being donated, volunteers are urgently needed to assist with sorting through bags of clothes to prepare them for the shop floor.

Debbie Rowlands, Head of Retail and Residence at Emmaus Leicestershire & Rutland said: “Since we opened the Boutique within our popular Emporium shop, generous local people are coming in every day to donate bags of clothes, shoes and accessories, but we sometimes struggle to find the time to sort and price them all. We’re really keen to hear from anyone who would be interested in volunteering with us, to help out with this important task.

“We’re a friendly, welcoming team and volunteering hours can be flexible to suit availability. Even a few hours every week or so, on a regular basis, would make a big difference.”

Emmaus Leicestershire & Rutland provides a home, support and meaningful work for 16 formerly homeless individuals. Some stay for a while as they gain confidence and skills before they are ready to move on to independent living; others require longer-term support and are able to stay for as long as they need to. Those supported live together and help to run the Emporium.
