Dr Heather Hollins has an accomplished 25+-year track record in the cultural sector which has centrally focused on challenging discriminatory practices, with an emphasis on working with people on the margins of society who don’t always have a voice. A significant part of career has focused on socially engaged practice working with excluded people and communities. For the majority of her career she was a senior manager in museums. For the past 10 years she’s worked for Arts Council England and for the past 16 years she’s also been an Associate Tutor for the School of Museum Studies at the University of Leicester. With significant expertise in Deaf/disability access and mental health issues, her PhD focused on enabled disabled people to gain access to decision-making in museums. She is currently learning British Sign Language, and is a trained Equalities Impact Assessor.
