We’d like to say a huge thank you to the lovely people at Moat House Care Home in Burbage for their amazing donation of £25,000.

The company recently invited us to visit their Moat House Care Home in Hinckley, to speak to residents about our work and be presented with the cheque.

It always means so much when local organisations reach out to support our charity’s work, and we really do appreciate their generosity.

Dave Lock, Managing Director for Moat House said, “When I heard about the amazing work Emmaus do in our local community and how fundraising has been increasingly difficult with the closure of its charity shops during covid restrictions, we knew we had to help.”

“Emmaus is a great charity because they give people a second chance. Donating to them is keeping people off the streets and giving them a chance to get back on their feet” explained Arlene Fox (69), a former teacher and resident at Moat House Care Home.

This sizeable donation has come at a much-needed time. Charities like ours rely on local support and this will go a long way to helping so many who need it.

“We can’t thank Moat House enough. I wouldn’t be here without the help I received from Emmaus; they saved my life. Things are back on track for me, and I am learning new skills. This donation will change so many people’s lives for the better. I will always be grateful” said Shaun, one of the formerly homeless people currently being supported by Emmaus Leicestershire & Rutland.
