At Emmaus, one of our key sources of fundraising is the furniture and household items we collect and upcycle for sale in our shops. We are looking for people to help us with collections and drop offs to our charity shops in Glasgow.
Key responsibilities include:
- Driving our vans and/or accompanying van drivers to and from collections and drop-offs in Glasgow and surrounding areas
- Arranging vans safely to transport goods free from damage
- Some heavy lifting of goods from collection points and shops, if you are able
Skills required:
- Be aged 25 or over
- Have a valid driving licence of more than three years with less than six points accrued
- Patience and empathy for our companions and their circumstances
- Good customer service and people skills
- A commitment to Emmaus’s ethos and values
- A positive can-do attitude
Time commitment:
We are looking for volunteers who can commit to 3 – 6 hours a week. If you’ve got more time to spare, we’d love to have you for more!
What we will provide you:
- The opportunity to work with our companions and contribute to our goal of providing valuable experience to those who have experienced homelessness
- The chance to be part of the Emmaus Glasgow community and meet likeminded people
- Additional training opportunities
- Access to staff support while on shift
- Travel expenses to and from shifts, if required
- Meals for shifts longer than 4 hours
