At Emmaus, the primary stream of fundraising comes from our charity shops. With donations consistently coming in from the community, we are looking for volunteers to assist in the running of our shops. If you are a people person with retail experience, or you just love finding a good bargain, our shop assistant role is perfect for your next volunteer experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Work alongside Emmaus companions to support the daily running of the shop
- Assist customers with sales at one of our charity shops
- Work on tills and handle cash during sales
- Maintain the look and feel of the shop, keeping the space tidy and re-stocking when necessary
- Sort and price donations of clothes, bric a brac, books and furniture
- Dress shop windows and displays in line with the season
Skills required:
- Experience working in a team
- Knowledge of health and safety
- Patience and empathy for our companions and their circumstances
- Good customer service and people skills
- A commitment to Emmaus’s ethos and values
- A positive can-do attitude
Time commitment:
We are looking for volunteers who can commit to 3 – 6 hours a week. If you’ve got more time to spare, we’d love to have you for more!
What we will provide you:
