Emmaus is pleased to announce a donation of £50,000 from international fragrance company, CPL Aromas. The generous donation will be split between Emmaus UK and Emmaus Hertfordshire to fund vital work.

The donation to Emmaus Hertfordshire will fund the salary of a new Development and Wellbeing Support Worker.  This new role will enable the charity to focus more proactively on companions’ development and wellbeing, by providing companions with personal development and training .

Support will include:

  • Developing an induction plan for new companions and a personalised learning and development plan;
  • Liaising with healthcare providers to ensure companions can access vital health services;
  • Supporting people to regain their self-confidence and independence through a broad range of activities.

This vital support helps people to rebuild their self-confidence, deal with any issues they might have, and begin rebuilding their lives after homelessness.

Donation will support the wider Emmaus movement in the UK

The donation to Emmaus UK will have an impact across the wider Emmaus federation. It will enable us to drive growth of the UK federation, by funding work that supports national activities. It will help Emmaus communities to expand and develop the support they provide, and ultimately assist people across the UK to rebuild their lives after homelessness.

Charlotte Talbot, Emmaus UK CEO, said, “We’re very grateful for this generous donation to Emmaus UK and Emmaus Hertfordshire. It will benefit communities across Emmaus and support our mission to assist people on their journey out of homelessness.”

Chris Pickthall, CEO of CPL Aromas, said, “We are delighted to support Emmaus and help them in their work to get homeless people off the streets, give them work and accommodation, and help them get their lives back on track.”

Emmaus Hertfordshire supports up to 36 people who have experienced homelessness by giving them a home, meaningful work in a social enterprise and an opportunity to regain lost self-esteem to help rebuild their lives. It is one of 30 Emmaus communities across the UK that support people who have experienced homelessness.
