Do you have skills in furniture restoration/upcycling?

Join our warm and welcoming team as an Upcycling, Repair and Restore Volunteer, where you’ll not only meet new people but also make a positive impact.

Our homelessness charity Emmaus Coventry & Warwickshire is looking for volunteers to help upcycle, repair and restore donated items of furniture. Each piece will then be sold in our Emmaus charity shop in Coventry, to raise vital funds.

This role is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a creative touch to help breathe new life into old furniture. You’ll be working alongside companions (people being supported by Emmaus), in one of two locations in Coventry.

How you’ll help:

  • Sort through things that have been donated to our charity, to select items for upcycling, repair or restoration
  • Repair and restore furniture items
  • Create new products from upcycled materials

Skills and experience needed:

  • Creativity
  • Knowledge and experience of upcycling and restoring household goods
  • General upcycling skills e.g. painting, woodwork, sanding, DIY
  • The ability to assist with lifting heavy items
  • Willingness to contribute within a team
  • Friendly, with good verbal communication

Time commitment:

Upcycling, repair and restoration work usually takes place between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Saturday. There is no set time commitment and we are happy to be flexible to suit the individual.

Based at our Emmaus shop, 70 Red Lane, Coventry CV6 5EQ or our Warehouse, Bodmin Road, CV2 5BD

Training, Support & Benefits:

  • You’ll get a 20% Volunteer Discount at our Emmaus charity shop.
  • You’ll receive a full induction and relevant training.
  • Lunch provided.
  • The opportunity to get involved with other volunteer roles and fundraising events.
  • We will look to provide further training to maximise your skills and experience in this area.
  • Travel expenses refunded.
