“Solidarity” is central to the Emmaus ethos. This is when our companions (and staff) ‘pay it forward’ by helping other people in need.

Did you know that we are one of 33 Emmaus charities across the UK? We often help out in our local area, but earlier this year, we stepped up to help out one of our sister charities: Emmaus Bristol.

When their van unexpectedly broke down, it posed a significant challenge because, just like us, the charity relies on its ability to continue collecting and delivering items that generate crucial funding.

We heard about their predicament, and got in touch to lend a much-needed van.

Emmaus Bristol’s van crew could then continue their essential work without disruption, enabling the continued collection and delivery of pre-loved items, until they had sorted their own van.

Satya Cashman, Social Enterprise Manager at Emmaus Bristol, kindly expressed her gratitude:

“We are incredibly grateful to our sister community, Emmaus Coventry & Warwickshire, for their generosity in lending us a van when ours broke down. Their support allowed our van crew to continue collecting and delivering pre-loved items to generate vital funding for our charity. This gesture shows the spirit of solidarity that makes the Emmaus movement so special. Thank you, Emmaus Coventry & Warwickshire, for stepping in to save the day!”
