We are thrilled to be working with Dunelm Rugby in the trial of Home to Home, an innovative homewares ‘pass it on’ scheme aimed at encouraging shoppers to donate their pre-loved items for the benefit of families and individuals in the local community.

Developed in collaboration with environmental charity Hubbub, our charity Emmaus Coventry & Warwickshire helps to distribute the donated items.

We are incredibly grateful for Dunelm’s support. The items we’ve received through this initiative have significantly improved the lives of individuals and families in the Coventry area. Some of them have been used to brighten up bedrooms in our charity’s accommodation for people who have experienced homelessness. The remaining items are taken with us on our regular visits to distribute food to local food banks, ensuring that those in need can also access essential items for their homes.

The response from customers in Rugby to this new way of giving has been remarkable. Thanks to their generosity, we’ve already received over 20 boxes filled with items, which have been carefully sorted and redistributed to those who require assistance the most.

Among the various donations, the contributions of cutlery, pots and pans, and utensils from Dunelm Rugby have been particularly well-received.

One of the charities benefiting from this trial, Carrier of Hope, shared their perspective on the impact of these donations, stating, “The items are given out to our clients in need, who are newly arrived in Coventry and are facing asylum. When they receive their leave to remain, after many years of waiting, they often move into accommodation with nothing. The donated items greatly benefit them during this challenging time. We distribute donated items on a daily basis to support the wider community, and we are grateful for everything we receive.”

A Store Champion at Dunelm Rugby, Aimee Smith, added: “We’re delighted to be part of Dunelm’s Home to Home trial stores and it is a pleasure to be able to provide our customers with an accessible solution to see their no longer needed homeware items purposefully recycled, as well as supporting local families and individuals.”
