Training opportunities are an important part of the support we offer to our companions (those who live in our Emmaus community, who have all faced homelessness in the past).
We’re proud and pleased to announce that all our companions have recently passed their Manual Handling Level 2 training.
Some have also just become qualified electrical PAT testers. So congratulations all!
Many places like night shelters are only able to provide a bed for the night and a hot meal to those sleeping rough; the next morning people may be asked to return to the streets again. This doesn’t necessarily give someone a chance to rebuild their life.
This is where Emmaus is different. We don’t just offer a bed for the night. We offer a home for as long as someone needs it, as well as meaningful work and support.
Our support team offers one-to-one sessions, plus they are always here for companions to drop in for a chat. They help arrange specialist help such as counselling, and also support people to plan for the future by gaining new skills and experiences, including training opportunities.
