We’re recruiting for an exciting new role as support worker at Emmaus Bradford. The support worker will play a central role in the support and development of the Emmaus Bradford Companions (our residents) and to ensure the smooth running of the community in line with all organisational policies and procedures. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Induction process to provide relevant information about Emmaus Bradford, including an up-to-date copy of the Companion Handbook
  • Registering companions with doctor and dentist
  • Application for HC2
  • Provision of uniform and PPE
  • Provision of personal items, towels, bedding and hygiene products
  • Ensuring the vacant companion rooms are clean and furnished to a suitable standard
  • Support with applications for Housing Benefits.
  • Applications for driving licence
  • Applications for passports
  • Obtaining copies of birth certificates
  • Any other personal documentation requirements
  • Booking medical appointments where applicable
  • Organising travel to appointments
  • Ordering of travel tickets as required
  • Liaison with partnership agencies and making the necessary referrals for our companion needs.

Provide support in the Emmaus Bradford kitchen, including: 

  • Working to a pre-defined food budget
  • Food ordering
  • Rotas for cooking and cleaning
  • Updating and maintaining Health and Safety in the kitchen workplace
  • Working with companions to maintain:
  • Basic cookery skills 
  • Budgeting 
  • Hygiene 
  • Nutrition 

Provide support for outings and activities:

  • Recreational activities, both as a group and individually
  • Working within a pre-defined budget
  • Organising travel arrangements

Other tasks, which will include: 

  • Working with referrals and risk assessments
  • Banking tasks
  • Paying charitable stipends on a weekly basis
  • Health and Safety checks
  • Office admin tasks as required
