We’re delighted that our recent announcement of new spaces available in our community is being shared on Bedford Radio’s new Community Noticeboard.

Bedford Radio has teamed up with the Harpur Trust to give charities, community groups and organisations like ours the chance to highlight their services on the station for free, as the station launched its new DAB on Friday (15 March).

Our Chief Executive, Donna-Louise Cobban, can be heard on Bedford Radio, along with several other good causes sharing their news in the bulletins running until the end of April.

The Community Noticeboard allows charities and community groups the chance to broadcast a message that will run on the station throughout the day, offering a free and accessible platform for community engagement.

Donna-Louise announces the availability of new spaces in our community which accommodates up to 42 formerly homeless people by providing them with a home, individual support and work opportunities within a community setting.

Recently we supported a group of Ukrainian people in our community who have now moved on, leaving rooms available for anybody experiencing, or at risk of homelessness, or people insecurely housed and in need of support.

Donna-Louise Cobban said: “A huge thank you to Bedford Radio and the Harpur Trust for introducing this fantastic Community Noticeboard which enables organisations like ours to engage with the wider community.

“With everybody feeling the current financial pinch, this initiative is a great way for charities and community groups to share updates and appeals across the radio’s new digital platform, at no cost to themselves.

“As well as providing vulnerable people with a secure home, we give them the opportunity to regain their self-esteem and support them to rebuild their lives, so it’s vitally important we make people aware of these new spaces.”

Bedford Radio will play an organisation’s message every hour, and each message will run for several weeks at least. It’s completely free to have a message on the noticeboard: all groups need to do is submit the details at www.bedford.radio/noticeboard, or record someone saying the message, no longer than 30 seconds and email it to [email protected].

Lucy Bardner, Harpur Trust Communities Programme Director, said: “We’re delighted to partner with Bedford Radio and give local charities and groups a voice, so they can communicate the essential support they provide in Bedford.

“Supporting the local community is a core part of what we do at The Harpur Trust and we hope charities and groups take up the opportunity to use the Community Noticeboard to help recruit volunteers, promote events and activities, or appeal for donations.”
